Love Your Clothes: Tips to Take Better Care of Your Spring Wardrobe

Create An Efficient Closet

When we think of extending the life of our clothes, we rarely consider the place where they spend the most time–the closet. Whether on hangers, in drawers or atop shelves, the way we store our clothes can have a major impact on their longevity. Make sure every article of clothing is hanging on the proper type of hanger, that drawers and shelves are clean, fresh and free of dust, and that the closet itself has access to fresh air.

Rethink Your Laundry Room

Aside from the closet, the laundry room is where your clothes spend most of their time. It’s easy to forget the basics or cut corners when we’re washing, drying, folding and ironing our clothes, especially if we’re doing the job for the entire family. If you haven’t in awhile, consider updating everyday items like hampers or totes, laundry bags or old ironing boards, and never forget to thoroughly clean your washer and dryer regularly.

Invest In Quality Clothes

No clothes will last forever, and the lives of most clothes can be extended if we care for them properly, but the entire process is so much easier if we invest in quality clothes the first time. It’s better to splurge on the elegant dress you’ve had your eye on that will last several years rather than having to update every year. However, you don’t have to spend a fortune to have quality clothes, like these new spring looks from LTD.

Style for Every Season

It takes some time to build our wardrobes. For many years, those of us aspiring to do so have to get by with what we have, exposing our favorite outfits to more wear and tear over time. Even though it can be hard to tell, there is a difference between having too many clothes and having the right amount of clothes for each season. Build your spring wardrobe this season, and look forward to warm weather with summery options.

5 Tips on How to Add a Retro Flare to Your Wardrobe

Retro-flareRetro is back in a big way and is here to stay. If you are looking for a new style and feeling like you should upgrade your wardrobe cheaply, going retro is one of the best options. Retro is great for any season, there is no set theme here.

5 Retro Style Dressing Tips You Can Easily Use

1. Take a Trip to Thrift Stores

Some of the best looks can be achieved for very low cost, provided you shop at the right stores. Charity stores, thrift shops and secondhand clothing dealers are all fantastic places to find retro style gold mines. One of the best things about shopping at thrift stores is not so much the incredibly cheap prices, but the fact that nobody else will have the same piece of clothing.

We all know the feeling when you buy a new t shirt and love it, then later that day you see 3 people wearing the exact same one. Nothing makes your fashion heart bleed more! Charity stores often have clothing that is actually really old, however most of these stores will only take the clothing that is in good condition.

2. Mix and Match Your Outfits

Depending on the style of retro you are looking for, mixing up your outfits with others can create some winning combinations. If you are trying to go for a retro rapper/musician sort of style, you can easily achieve this look by throwing on an assortment of old, colorful clothing. Retro girls outfits are often matching in color, but they have different styles of clothing put together. An example would be some cute high heel shoes with a floral dress and then some hippy style sunglasses, and then your hair done in a totally unique way.

 3. Accessorize With an Assortment of Bling

Retro is all about the bags, sunglasses, watches, hats, handkerchiefs and jewelry. Whether you choose a snakeskin style of purse with rayban style sunglasses or a big leather satchel and aviators, you can be guaranteed that if you whip together a few accessories you will complete the retro look. Anything that is considered to have gone out of style over 10 years ago is what people call retro, that leaves you with a huge range of options for picking outfits.

4. Do Something Outrageous With Your Hair

Your haircut is something that says a lot about you. Are you a bit lazy and have an overgrown mop with facial hair? Are you a pretty boy who likes to pamper himself with fancy haircuts with designs in it? Doing something that has been out of fashion for a while is key to retro, and that is no different with your hair. Try teasing your hair out like on Grease, cut yourself a mohawk or give yourself a bowl cut (okay, maybe not that last one). Doing something different with your hair is a huge amount of fun, and even though it may seem crazy The concept is confusing to most consumers because an accounting “ free-credits-report.com ” does not mean more “stuff” such as property or money; it merely indicates the side of the page on which the entry is posted. to you, 99.9% of people won’t bat an eyelid. Retro is all the rage at the moment and if you aren’t doing something fun with your hairdo, you are leaving plenty of fun on the table! One thing that that is big in the retro look is for guys to have slightly shaved hair on the side and styled nicely on the top.

5. Use Your Parents/Grandparents Clothes

This option is great fun, zero cost and gives you an authentic look in to your genealogy! Wearing that leather coat that belonged to your dad in the ‘70s or wearing that purse your grandmother used to sling in the ‘60s gives you the real deal retro look. One of the great things about this is that if your parents or grandparents still have some clothing from that long ago, it will be of the highest quality.

There is no need to rummage through thrift stores if you have a hoarder in your family, however it can always add to the flavor. Using your grandparents or parents clothing is always a good strategy as they would have worn what was in fashion 20 to 30 years ago. Ask them if they have any classic pairs of sunglasses, handbags or other accessories from their past as well.

Retro Style Clothing is Something Anybody can Master

Whether you want to look like the crew who wrote “Rapper’s Delight” or resemble the Jackson 5, retro looks are relatively easy to do for one simple reason – you can’t really get it wrong. There is no right or wrong way to dress for retro, it is totally up to you. If you want to wear a fluro jacket with a flowery pair of trousers and sandals, who is going to tell you that you aren’t retro? One of the best ways to find epic retro outfits to copy is by watching a few old movies such as Gone In 60 Seconds. The characters in this movie are retro to the letter (and also a great bunch of actors).

How to Organize Your Closet Properly

A closet is an integral part of every home, and with the change of seasons the wardrobe is becoming a major problem for every woman. If you are facing the exact dilemma every new season, then it is high time you rolled your sleeves up and put your closet in order.

Orgainized-closetHave you ever happened to stand in front of the open closet for hours and wonder what to wear? And when you finally think of a particular piece of clothing, you can’t usually find it, because of the chaos there. Putting your closet in order is must that many people delay because the idea of folding and arranging their clothes for a few hours sounds annoying and disgusting. And still, the sight of the properly stacked piles of clothes after you are done will bring you unparalleled satisfaction.

Put an end to the shapeless and wrinkled pieces of clothing, and throw away everything that you don’t actually need and wear. Spend a few hours in organizing your entire closet in order to provide yourself with some comfort and put an end to chaos. You will be surprised how many forgotten clothes you will find at the bottom of some drawers and how well you will feel when you can finally put the place in order and find everything you need.

What do you need to start?

  • Empty nylon or plastic bags of different size
  • Some suitcases and bags that you don’t use often
  • Hangers
  • Empty space where you will have to put the clothes for a while

What is the plan of action?

  • Take all the clothes out of your closet. You can pile them on the floor or on the bed, but make sure you don’t scatter them around the whole room.
  • Take a few minutes in order to decide what you are doing to put on each of the shelves and in the drawers.
  • Separate the clothes according to the season they are supposed for. It will be harder for you when you start dealing with your winter clothes, because they are bulkier. Put them in a vacuum plastic bag in order to save some space, or you can even use an old suitcase that you no longer take when going on a vacation. Throw away everything that you don’t actually need and the clothes that you no longer wear.
  • Then start organizing your summer clothing. Separate them from one another and put them on the shelves and the drawers you have initially emptied for them. Once again, decide what the things are that you no longer use and throw them away.
  • Divide the clothes in some piles. This will make it easier to decide what you are going to wear and what – not. In the first pile put the clothes that you will wear for sure. Then, in the second one, put the clothes that need to be washed or repaired in any way. In the third pile put all the clothes you are not sure you will wear.
  • Finally, fold the clothes and put everything on the shelves or in the drawers you have prepared for them. Hang all the shirts, trousers and skirts. Then sort your blouses and other tops out and organize them on the shelves. You can use also some plastic bags or cardboard boxes, but you should be aware of the fact that this won’t make it much easier when you need to find something that you need.

Tips that will make it easier

  • There is an easy rule that you can use for the clothes you can’t decide if you are going to wear or not. If you haven’t worn a piece of clothing for more than a year – throw it away, because it is not likely you will wear it again.
  • Make a “revision” of your wardrobe in a few months. Otherwise you risk creating even a greater chaos.
  • Decide how much time you can spend on organizing your wardrobe. Have in mind that you won’t be able to do everything in just a half an hour or so. Otherwise you risk getting angry when you actually realize how much work you need to do.
