How To Determine If A Plant Will Thrive In Your Region

Step 1: Search For Your State Or ZIP Code On The USDA Map

Visit the official USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map and search for your ZIP code or select your state by clicking on the map.

If you type in your ZIP code, your hardiness zone number will automatically pop up as shown in the image below.

If you select your entire state, a map of your specific state will pop up, along with the list of average extreme minimum temperatures and their corresponding zone.

In the example below for the state of Pennsylvania, you can see that a range of numbers are listed based on the part of the state you live in. For instance, if you live in Tioga, your zone number would be 5b.

Step 2: Check The LTD Product Details

Each live plant product on the Lakside website will have the recommended USDA Hardiness Zones detailed in the description.

In the example provided, the product shows an ideal hardiness zone of 3-8. This plant would be an acceptable choice if you live in zones 3-8.

You have ZERO plants that are recommended for zone 1!!!!!. We do successfully grow several of the plants you sell!!!1

Hi Joan- Apologies for any confusion, those zones are not recommendations on where they should be planted. That is a zone map that lets you know wen we will ship out the plants. They aren’t shipped right away based on your location, since we want to make sure they arrive healthy and ready to plant.
